Terms of service

Effective 2026-10-01. Plain language on purpose. Where these terms and the law disagree, the law wins.

1. Who we are

atak.pro is run by Intel Strategies LLC, a Texas company trading as Gridbase, in White Settlement, Texas. "We", "us" and "Gridbase" mean that company. "You" means the person or organization that ordered a server.

2. What the service is

A hosted OpenTAKServer on a virtual machine that is yours alone, reachable at a name under atak.pro, with a page where you manage the people on it. OpenTAKServer is an open-source project we did not write. We run it; we do not warrant it. atak.pro is not affiliated with the TAK Product Center or any government. ATAK and TAK are marks of their owners.

3. Your account

You sign in with email links and passkeys. There are no passwords, and we cannot reset your account over the phone, by chat or by ticket. Keep your recovery codes. If you lose your email and your codes, the only path back is proof of control of the billing card, which takes 72 hours and a notice to your old address. You are responsible for everything done on your server by people you added to it.

4. Ordering and billing

You pay monthly in advance through Stripe. Sales tax is added where the law requires it. Add-ons are billed with the plan. You can cancel any time from the billing portal; the server runs to the end of the paid period and is deleted 14 days after that unless you export your data first. We do not refund partial months. If a payment fails you have 7 days to fix it, then the server is paused with your data intact; 14 days after that it is deleted. A chargeback pauses the server immediately.

5. Your data

Everything on your server is yours: the certificate authority, the users, the packages, the map data. We hold your email, your billing identifiers at Stripe, and operational health data about the server. We act as a processor for the rest and only touch your server through the automated agent that runs it, never by logging in as a person unless you ask us to in writing. You can export a complete copy of your server from the tenant page at any time, and you can delete the server at any time.

6. Backups and recovery

We back your server up nightly and keep 7 days (Squad and Team) or 30 days (Unit). Our recovery objective is 24 hours of data and about 15 minutes of rebuild time. CoT traffic is not stored; what the backup protects is your certificates, users and files.

7. Acceptable use

The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. In short: lawful use only, nothing export-controlled, and no attacks from or on the service. We may pause or end a server that breaks it.

8. What we do not promise

The service is provided as it is, with best-effort support and no uptime guarantee. We are a small company with day jobs; we answer email as fast as we can and we page ourselves when your server stops checking in. We do not claim CJIS, SOC 2 or FedRAMP compliance. Do not put anything on this service that your rules require to be on an accredited system.

9. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including loss of data you did not export, loss of use, or anything a third party does on your server.

10. Your responsibility to us

If your use of the service causes a claim against us, you will defend and cover us for it, including reasonable legal costs.

11. Ending the service

You can cancel any time. We can end your server with notice for non-payment or a policy breach, or without notice if it is being used to harm others. We can end the whole service with 60 days notice to your email, in which case you can export everything first.

12. Changes

We can change these terms. We will email you 30 days before a material change takes effect. Continuing to pay after that is acceptance.

13. Law and disputes

Texas law governs. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Tarrant County, Texas, and you agree to that venue. Talk to us first; most things are a misunderstanding.
